Funky Stripe Scarf Free Pattern

After completing a custom order I had some left over yarn. I decided to play around with the leftover yarn and see what I could come up with. It was my plan to try a plaid type design but it didn’t come out the way I had pictured it. But I think it’s nice and funky! It’s a really easy pattern than anyone can do so I thought I’d share. Now I don’t normally write patterns for anyone other than myself so if you don’t understand something let me know. A picture of the scarf I created is at the bottom of this blog.

Funky Striped Scarf: I used Worsted Weight yarn & a H hook – but you can use whatever works for you.

Ch 202
Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, *ch1, skip 1ch, dc in next ch* repeat from * across end with dc in the last ch, turn
Row 2: ch 3 (will count as first dc), *skip ch, dc in next dc* repeat from* across end with dc in the last ch, turn
Repeat row 2 to make scarf as wide as you want.

Pick two or more colored yarn you would like to use to weave into your scarf. Measure and cut two strands of yarn. The length should be about 6inches longer than the scarf. Take the two strands of yarn and weave it through the “holes” (made by the chains) of the scarf. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Just use your imagination and make it as funky as you want!!

New Treasury

For those who don't know what an Etsy treasury is - it is an opportunity to list a group of your favorite items. It can be anything you want. I listed handbags. Instead of making new year’s resolutions I try to set goals for myself. One of the many goals I have set for me and my family is for a healthier year. I don’t have a lot to change. We don’t keep anything sweet or sugary in the house. I don’t allow the kids to have caffeine and try to promote healthy snacks. But I have realized in looking at my budget from last year is that we ate out A LOT! So the challenge is making home cooked meals that are tasty, quick and somewhat healthy! So the last four days I have cooked! I even whipped out my old school Betty Crocker cook book and made some meatloaf. Yummy! So I need to keep at it and broaden my horizon by cooking more meals. Any suggestions are greatly welcomed. I was also thinking of splurging and going to one of those Dream Dinners place – just not sure yet. We have reserved no more than two meals a week for dining out. Let’s be realistic I’m not gonna want to cook everyday!

Also as a part of our healthy new year we are going to continue to focus on exercising and sports. My hubby has been dedicated and working out since August. It’s time for winter sports and instead of basketball the boys have decided to try something different, with a little encouraging from me! They will start Tae Kwon Do (spell check?). Due to an ankle injury my daughter has she has been forbidden to participate in sports until she’s done with her Functional rehab. With that being said I think she and I will start doing Yoga. I have my own yoga mat and Dennis Austin DVD which have been collecting dust! So I am going to break it out tomorrow and see how it goes. I loved it when I use to do it. Its great for your abs! It doesn’t require any weights, which is just down my alley.

I am trying to set good habits for my kids. Eat healthy and exercise. It’s not a lot but with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Cancer, Obesity & a list of other illnesses that run in our families I want to be able to start them off on the right foot. I also plan on being married to my husband forever – forever is a long time!! It would be great if we could enjoy our “golden years” traveling and enjoying our lives.

Busy Times

It seems that no matter how much time I have it’s never enough. I promised myself that I would take time to publish a blog every day. I’ve been finding it very difficult. Not only because I am new to blogging but also because I cannot think of what to blog about! So here I am with five million project ideas written down and floating in my head but no time to work on them. Maybe it’s because I am completely addicted to Etsy’s forum and Facebook fan page! Or maybe it’s because I am blogging!?

I opened my Etsy shop at the advice of my family and friends who love my crochet items and suggested I should sell them. I have been on Etsy for a year and have made four sales. I think it’s great but now I am obsessed with making another sale. I am so stressed about it that I am overwhelmed with ideas on what to make so “people” will buy my items. So I need to slow down and focus on one thing at a time. I have special orders from friends and family I need to work on. But I really need to figure out what I want to focus on for my shop - any ideas please help a giel our! I need to slow down so I can continue to enjoy doing what I do. I don’t want to turn this into another job – I already hate the one I got!

I am not sure what I am going to do when I start classes – now that ought to be interesting. Between a full time job, marriage, 3 kids, church events, sports, family events and then adding school – is there enough time in the day? When I get home I have to stay away from the computer if not I am on facebook – chatting away with old friends or searching the web for another “idea” that I will never get to. So here goes to trying to stay focus and enjoy what little time I do have, doing what I enjoy the most - - crocheting

What's Your New Years Resolutions or Goals

Its New Years DAY! Sitting at home with the family and relaxing. We are anxiously awaiting the big game to come on so we can support our OHIO STATE BUCKEYES. Its great that they made it to the Rose Bowl this year. I just pray they can pull it off and bring home the win.

I am still new to this whole blogging thing. Its my goal to write something at least once a day. We will see how it goes.
